Jodi Shelton: Woman of Substance
As founder of the Global Semiconductor Alliance, Jodi Shelton wields well-earned international power in this male-dominated technology segment.
Jodi Shelton go hooked on the semiconductor industry early in her career. Now she runs the Global Semiconductor Alliance, a group she also founded. Shelton’s career in the industry came about somewhat by circumstance. With an undergraduate and graduate degree in political science from San Diego State University and the University of Houston, respectively, she had originally wanted to become a professor, but after taking a job at Cyrix, a semiconductor company, that plan changed. After helping Cyrix through its initial public offering, she left to start an investor relations firm, Dallas-based Shelton Group, and about the same time, she helped launch the GSA. The trade organization, which advocates for an increased return on invested capital of the semiconductor industry, has more than 500 corporate members from 25 countries. Shelton was interviewed by staff writer Shashana Pearson-Hormillosa.
