Melissa Conger
Director

Melissa Conger joined Shelton Group in 2006 as director within the company’s Public Relations department. She brings with her a comprehensive background of public relations expertise, with a thorough understanding of consumer, business-to-business and technology driven communications.

Conger has solid experience in media relations, project management, crisis communications, advertising, and community and advocacy relations; as well as in the development and implementation of customized strategies and programs to effectively increase client visibility and support business growth.

Her broad client experience has ranged from technology, pharmaceutical and legal to entertainment, non-profit and hospitality service clients.

Conger began her career as a journalist and was honored by the Texas Press Association for her work. This early stepping stone provided her with a keen understanding of how to successfully maintain long-lasting relationships with media contacts, which in turn has benefited her clients the most. In addition, her PR accomplishments have been recognized by PRNews, the Volunteer Center of North Texas and the Summit Creative Awards group.

Prior to joining Shelton Group, Conger was senior director of Carter Public Relations and oversaw account management and strategic planning for various non-profit groups, such as Shakespeare Dallas, and the corporate litigation firm of Bickel & Brewer.

Trained in the disciplines of PR at a span of smaller agencies in Dallas, including Springbok Technologies, Conger honed her skills at Publicis Dialog, where her project work included the American Lung Association, GlaxoSmithKline, Pegasus Solutions, John Q. Hammons Hotels, Inc., Masergy, Chiaro Networks and Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children. Before building her agency experience, Conger oversaw corporate PR initiatives at the fashion-accessories mogul, Fossil, Inc.

Conger earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of North Texas.
